One dark night brother and sister Lacey and Willy witness and participate in a gory murder of their mothers lover, who had tied Willy up to his bed but his sister Lacey untied him and gave him a big knife to do the murder with.

20 years later Lacey is experiencing nightmares about that tragic night, so her husband decides it's about time she returned to the house were this terrible tragedy happened and face her fears once and for all. So off they go to the house but Lacey sees the man they murdered in a mirror in the bedroom of the house and hysterically smashes the mirror unleashing the bogey mans evil spirit.

After apologising to owners of the house Lacey's husband takes the mirror home with them and puts it together to prove once and or all there is nothing sinister about it. After the mirror is shattered and the evil spirit released gruesome murders start to happen around anywhere were there is a piece of the mirror. With most of the mirror back at Lacey's family home some of her family become victims, and even with a priest at their house will they be able to survive the wrath of the Bogey Man now he is unleashed and looking for revenge…..

The Bogey Man is an excellent film sort of a cross between Halloween and the Exorcist with some great atmosphere generated by the excellent spooky music, there is also gore a plenty in the set piece murders that'll keep gore hungry fans well satisfied. This film happened to be the first film I watched on video as a kid and I loved it so much then I must have rented it a hundred times, and I would probably give it a higher score if I hadn't seen it so many times. There have been 2 more rather inferior sequels since this was made and there is another in production as I write this review.
