This film is about a group of 5 teenagers who go out on a Sundays drive to there grandparents old house out in the country. After a spate of grave robberies they stop off at the graveyard to check if there grandparents grave as been tampered with, before moving on.
On the way they unwittingly pick up a hitchhiker, who happens to be the grave robber and a complete psychopath, after refusing his hospitalities the hitchhiker goes crazy in the teenagers van so they kick him out, and progress on to their grandparents old house. Realising they need fuel they stop off at a gas station which is also out of gas so they decide to lark about at the house while the gas tanker arrives at the gas station, despite advise not to go there from the gas station attendant.
After 3 of the teenagers have disappeared and it is getting dark the 2 left decide go try and find them but unfortunately they realise the true terror of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Supposedly based on factual occurrences, but what I have read about it its very loosely in every sense of the word based on factual occurrences, but this did seem to be the trend at the time when Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released.
This happens to be one of my favourite horror films of all time so I find it hard to say anything bad about this film, I highly recommend it as a must see film if you haven't already seen it. The atmosphere of the film is amazing you really seem to feel the heat of a hot dry summers day in Texas, and the way the actors play the cannibalistic family gives you the impression they are absolute psycho paths. Marilyn Burns also does a great job too, just look at her eyes when she wakes up after being captured, she really looks scared to death, something actors and actresses don't seem to portray in western horror films nowadays.
