A boy who is messing around in a graveyard, after his brothers friends funeral witnesses the undertaker doing some strange things unfortunately for him he gets spotted. When he gets home and tells his brother what is going on he doesn't believe him, he just thinks he is after attention because their parents were recently killed in a car crash.

Alot of strange things start going on and the boys brother eventually believes his younger brother after witnessing a figure turn into some kind of bat. So the elder brother goes to investigate the mortuary, and he there he discovers what appears to be midgets in capes, who attack him so he makes his escape.

As the story unfolds we discover that the mortuary is just a front to something more sinister, as the undertaker a.k.a The Tall Man is transporting the bodies to some other dimension and turning them into slaves. After The Tall Man discovers the boys and one of their friends are on to him, he goes about trying to kill them.

Flying balls patrol the mortuary, which go after anything that moves and then drills in to their skulls, and the dwarves do the dirty work of trying to kill people for The Tall Man who himself wont stop at trying to keep his sinister operation under wraps......

I find Phantasm to be a great film, although a little hard to understand at times, such as at the end when the brothers friend was stabbed and presumed dead, then to find he his still alive and it is the older brother who had died. Then there's the ending itself was it a dream or not, well there as been 3 sequels since and another planned so you can decide for yourself.
