A story about a kiddie serial killer, Freddy Krueger who is torched and
killed by a bunch of people. Years later those people have kids and Freddy
comes back in the kids dreams. We start off in Tina's dream where she is
being chased by Freddy. She narrowly escapes. The next night, Tina along with some friends, Rod-her boyfriend, Nancy-her best friend and Glen-Nancy's boyfriend. When Tina goes to sleep she is once again chased by Freddy, this time though she's not as lucky. Rod sees the whole ordeal, but doesn't see who's killing her. He bolts afterwards. The cops, led by Nancy's dad, believe he is the killer and catch him the next while he's trying to talk to Nancy. Nancy goes to school and falls asleep. Soon she meets up with Freddy and if not for some quick thinking she might have parished then as well. That night she has Glen come over to watch her while she sleeps so he can wake her up in case anything should happen. But of course Glen falls asleep and Nancy almost doesn't make it this time. While in her dream she sees Freddy in Rod's jail cell, so after she wakes up, Glen and her head down to the station. While they're getting the run around up front by Nancy's dad and another officer, Rod is getting killed. Everybody finally goes in to
check on Rod, but it's to late.
After Rod's funeral, Nancy's mother takes her to a sleep hospital, were during one of her dreams she's able to bring back Freddy's hat with her. This gives her an idea. A little while later, Nancy's mother breaksdown and tells her how it was she and some other parents who are responsible for Freddy's death. Later that night she devises a plan on how to stop Freddy. She again enlist the help of Glen and again Glen falls asleep. This time it's him that gets taken care of by Freddy. The cops come and Nancy calls her dad and tells him to come over in twenty minutes so he can arrest the man responsible for the recent deaths. She then boobytraps the house and goes to sleep. At the last minute she's able to grab a hold of Freddy and bring him into the real world, where he proceeds to chase Nancy around. Nancy sets him on fire, and the cops finally arrive after much yelling from Nancy. And of course she's finally able to dispose of Freddy, or is she?
A Nightmare On Elm Street is one of my all time favorites. A classic in my opinion. I thought it was a good story and Wes Craven did an outstanding job on this movie. I loved the whole atmosphere and the dark look to it. I also found that the score to the movie was a perfect fit, nice and creepy vibe to it, one of my favorite movie themes, of course. I thought the dream sequences were great, I thought they were original and imaginative. I thought the acting was pretty good from the young not so well known talent. Of course Robert Englund did a very good job. I loved the very ending to this film, I thought it was well done. When I first watched this movie when I was little, it scared the holy crap out of me and is the reason, along with a couple other installments to the series, that I have sleep disorders
to this day! Great movie, loved everything about it.
