Halloween 1962 a boy named Michael Myers kills his sister, and is then sent to a mental hospital, were 15 years later he escapes and returns back to is home town of Haddonfield, Illinois.

He returns to his home town in a attempt to kill his other sister Laurie Strode (although we don't find out its his sister until part 2), and on the way he kills a few more baby-sitters. He his ever pursued by his doctor who's obsession in stopping Michael his as passionate as Michael's obsession for killing his sister.

An excellent film that's full of suspense and atmosphere, although there is no gore in this film it is still a favourite amongst most horror fans, whether they are gore hounds or not. The music which was composed by John Carpenter himself is what makes this film so great, as the great man himself said, when they screened the film without the music to the producers they thought it was a turkey, but when they added the music they couldn't believe how it transformed the atmosphere and suspense of the film, making it one of the scariest films of 1978. It also grossed more than any other horror film until Blair Witch came along.
