Here is our interview webmaster pick with Larry McKenzie the owner of the Caverns Of Blood, The Halloween Network, and he has more spooky sites on the web. He is amazing with his hard working talent, determination, sprit of Halloween binding people together, and his creativity is always remarkable and a real treat. Read our interview with Larry and get to know a little more about the webmaster behind his brilliant work.

SH: Hey Larry! Thank you for joining us in the webmasters pick interview. We've selected your web sites, "The Caverns of Blood and The Halloween Network" as a webmasters pick. We would like to ask you some questions so we could get to know a little more about the creative webmaster behind his brilliant work.

First of all your work is always amazing with its overall content, look and feel, and your hard work making them inspiring and an enjoyable experience for anyone who crosses your web sites. What exactly got you motivated into the work that you do and to keep it going this long? Also from the beginning of both web sites have you ever expected the out come to be such a huge success as of today?

LARRY: Thank you very much! I think obsession is what keeps me motivated. I launched my first Halloween site in 1993 on a free web space that no longer exists. From there I developed HalloweenMagazine.com (which I sold last year). Over the last few years, I have built various Halloween sites to build up a network of sites. TheHalloweenNetwork.com is used as a portal for these sites. I purchased CavernsOfBlood.com from the original owner in mid 2002 and have worked to enhance the site ever since. I am very happy with the success so far and is a little better than expected.

SH: Your very welcome! In your work you always have brilliant ideas for your web site projects involving with a variety of stuff. Where do you come up with the ideas and so far what project would be your lengthiest to work on but enjoyable?

LARRY: Wow, thanks again. A lot of ideas come from listening to my online friends. I look at all of my Halloween sites as the same project. I think that each web entity requires certain qualities; I add qualities to the network as it becomes possible.

SH: When you're working on a web site what would be the toughest task to work with? Creating games, graphics, etc...

LARRY: The toughest thing for me is to find enough time to do things. Coming up with different looks for the graphics are pretty tough too.

SH: As an experience Webmaster yourself could you please share some of your web building skill's of the do's and don'ts involving with overall web building and designing?

LARRY: I think that a site should be designed for everyone. Do not design a site that is only good for a certain screen resolution. I think the biggest mistake that webmasters make is to include pop-ups that install spyware or other software. There are a lot of Halloween sites out there that do this.

SH: How long exactly have you been working with web building and how long to did it take you to learn it approx.?

LARRY: I started learning HTML in 1993. I learned it raw using notepad. It probably took only about 2 weeks to learn it as I dove in spending all of the nights learning mainly by trial and error. Now I use MS FrontPage as it is much faster to develop a site then when using raw code.

SH: I have to say that it's wonderful to see that you put Caverns Of Blood back up on the web. Do you have any more new projects for COBS on the works right now or the coming future?

LARRY: There is a lot of plans for the site and network. Plans include more games, content and community building tools. Sorry, I cannot go into too much detail.

SH: I know you have a lot of fans collecting over the years visiting your web site Caverns of Blood but could you tell us a little more about your other web site, the Halloween network, and do you have any other web site on the web? We would be interested on taking a peek at them as well.

LARRY: I run all of the sites listed with text links on http://www.TheHalloweenNetwork.com which as mentioned before is a portal for my Halloween oriented sites. The network received millions of unique visitors a year. I have many sites planned, but since I do not have a time frame for most of these sites, I will not list them now. You may be interested that I am now employed at NowStream.com as Marketing Director. NowStream.com is set to officially launch in November 2003.

SH: Okay now I am going to ask you some questions so we could get to know a little more about the web master behind all of that hard work. Please describe to us about your true personality?

LARRY: I am very weird and proud of it. I am outgoing with a strong desire to succeed. Honesty and integrity are the most important traits. My biggest fault is that I tend to over analyze things. Gee, I wonder if I should re-word that. LOL

SH: What kind of things such as hobbies, collectable, or things do you enjoy the most?

LARRY: Larry: I have a storage shed full of Halloween props. I love web site development as a hobby. I love watching movies and spending time with friends.

SH: What are some of your favorite Music? Movies, TV shows, Games, Cartoons, and etc...

LARRY: I like most music. Currently into 80s type music. I listen to music almost all day. For TV, I like CSI, South Park and my favorite is The Simpsons.

SH: What are some of your dislikes?

LARRY: I am not a fan of old-style country music. I dislike being around people who are judgmental and dishonest.

SH: The worst food is?

LARRY: I love almost all food except butter flavored Rice A Roni

SH: The best food is?

LARRY: I love a good rib-eye or porterhouse steak.

SH: In your next life you will be?

LARRY: In my next live I will be me again.

SH: What do you enjoy the very most about Halloween? And would you consider yourself as being a Halloween freak? Have you always enjoyed the atmosphere of Halloween all your life or more as an adult?

LARRY: Yes, I am a freak. I built a haunted house with my friend when I was in the 5th grade. I have been hooked ever since. I love the props and lighting the best. I love to transform an area into something from another time and place.

SH: When you celebrate Halloween every year what do you always do every year any traditions?

LARRY: I do things different every year. When I can, we transform our house inside and out into a whole new place. Every year I seek bigger and better props. I guess I can say that I celebrate Halloween all year.

SH: Who's your favorite all time Creature of the night? What makes them so exciting and fascinating?

LARRY: Freddy Krueger is my favorite. Most of the other horror stories take place somewhere that I do not go to. I dream almost every night. To me, that makes it a bit more scary.

SH: Do you have any last words that you would like to say?

LARRY: Thank you very much for the opportunity of this interview. It is an honor to be chosen as one of your webmaster picks. I think that your site is also one of the best Halloween and horror sites on the net. Happy Halloween!

SH: Thank you for taking the time to answer some of our questions. It's been great fun! We are looking forward on haunting you again. Have a safe, and happy Halloween of 2003. Muahahahaha!
