Centaurs are mere Woodland creatures that shun the company of the race of men. They dwell primarily in remote, secluded glades and pastures. The appearance of the Centaur is unmistakable, they have an upper torso as men and they have arms and even the head of a human being. The bottom half of a Centaur is that of a large and powerful horse. The speak their own language and about 10% of them can speak in the tongue of the elves.
An entire group of Centaurs are always heavily armed. The leaders carry Shields and usually an oaken club. An oaken club is the equivalent to a morning star and is very deadly in the hands of a Centaur, young or old. 15% of the Centaur population are quite skilled with bow and arrow, the lesser of the groups carry simple shields and horse lances. Regardless of the weapon, the Centaur should not ever be taken lightly, though they do not attack first, they are powerful defenders.
The organization of the Centaur race is tribal, they have strict beliefs and they expect all of their kind to follow the rules as specified. They have their own lairs which are located deep within a forest region and they guard their areas night and day by taking rotating shifts. The Centaur mates for life, and the entire tribe participates in the upbringing of the young. A Centaur's alignment is of either Chaotic or Nuetral good and they are more active during daylight hours.
When finishing a battle, the Centaur will take gems or any other thing of value from their fallen foes. Though they have no need for such things, they are great collectors of things that once belonged to fallen enemies.
