SH: Hey Kevin, your web site has been selected as our webmasters pick. We have enjoyed visiting your web site and it's amazing. You work designs, layouts, content and overall are unbelievable. We would like to get to know a little more about the webmaster behind this awesome work.

KEVIN KARSTENS: Thanks, that's ALWAYS nice to hear. I appreciate the commentary and wonderfully kind criticism.

SH: My first question is, when you first started with the web site did you had any idea it would make such success and become a favorite by your visitors?

KEVIN KARSTENS: Nope....;) I was simply creating a showcase for my art and various other creations and the hits started, and I got quite a lot of 'fan mail' so I knew it was shaping up to be a popular site!

SH: Have you worked on any other web site previously before, if so how many, and is there anything you have learn from them?

KEVIN KARSTENS: Not really, in so far as 'creating the actual site,' i.e., HTML, etc. I'm an artist, and I just do the logos, animation's, and other extras. I leave the code to the pros!

SH: How long does it take for you to create the artwork, logos, games and screensavers on the JoBlo site?

KEVIN KARSTENS: Artwork takes anywhere from an hour to two hours, from sketch staging to ink and color.

SH: How long have you been working with artwork, logos, games and screensavers?

KEVIN KARSTENS: About ten year's online now. Ive been DRAWING since I was about 5. (I'm 37, by the way...;)

SH: Could you share us some tips with working with the stuff you do?

KEVIN KARSTENS: You need good, user friendly software if you are just starting out the best program I have found for making savers is Animated Screen by Pysoft (www.pysoft.com) I use it for 90% of the savers I create, PLUS it can help you create animated film clips, as it is able to export any animation you create as an AVI file. I use The Games Factory and Click and Create for making all the games at the JoBlo site.

SH: Okay, now I will ask some questions about you. So we could get to know a little more about the creator behind all o f his work. Describe to us truthfully on your personality?

KEVIN KARSTENS: Very eccentric, so I have been told humorous and energetic. But LOUSY taste in movies, etc. I LOVE bad comedy or bad films, in general in the 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' vein (I own over 200 eps on tape and DVD) PLUS my favorite film is 'Howard The Duck' I even created a fan site devoted to this oddball film which contains everything from an original PC game I made based on the film to a fake 'trailer' for the 'sequel' and several screensavers (http://www.geocities.com/cecinid/HowardIntro.html) which was picked up by the Internet Movie database (www.imdb.com) as the 'official movie site)...

SH: What are your dislikes?

KEVIN KARSTENS: Cell phones. Stupid people. Reality shows on TV and spinach...;)

SH: Favorite Music, actors, etc?

KEVIN KARSTENS: Music? 80s tunes and classical music, film scores people? Hmmmm certain folks crack me up, from Alec Baldwin to Kate Hudson my personal HERO is Walt Disney, a true visionary that created the concept of the animated film feature, among many other memorable American standards in entertainment the man was an actual genius.

SH: Have any bad habits? I had to toss that one in.

KEVIN KARSTENS: Of course you did...;)
Yeah, I'm a smoker, about a pack a day, full flavors, no 'lights', thanks but that's it, really I don't drink, and I have no interest in 'sports obsessions' ;)
