A long time ago in the town of Ludlow, Massachusetts, there was a serial killer by the name of Kevin Fitzell, who lived in the Coch Woods surrounding the town. He killed several people in the small town. One day a group of men were able to track him down and beat him repeatedly, then buried him in the woods. But not before he could make a deal with the devil for revenge.
Skip to 1996 where a group of friends decide to go camping out in the Coch Woods. One of the guys decides to go off into the woods and umm...jerks off. That little act unleashes the evil that has been buried in the woods all those years and the 'Coch Woods Monster' is born. So all the kids will learn that the legend is true for they all get slaughtered by the monster, save for one man. Geno McGahee is able to escape and finds the old priest Father Hornelli, who had a run in with Kevin Fitzell all those years ago. Father Hornelli is able to send the monster back to hell, and all is well in the little town once again.
Now it's 2003 and somebody once again has done a sexual act within the Coch Woods and now the monster is back! Sam Adams hears about this and runs to find Geno and let him know that the monster is back. Now they must think of another way to get rid of it before it starts on another murderous rampage. Geno tries to get the police involve, but they just believe that perhaps he has something to do with it, just like they believe he did back in '96. But after a brutal slaughter at a party being held in the woods, Detective Carmichael starts believing. The Detective with the help of Geno and another man, Cedric come up with a plan to kill the monster once and for all. But are they successful and do they all make it out of the woods alive? Or do they just make things much worse?

Are you into low-budget movies? How about extremely low-budget moives? Cause that's what Evil Awakening is, extremely low-budget. Now I know what you might be thinking when I say that. You're probably thinking that this movie is a stinker and you won't waste your time with this movie because those types of movies are extremely boring, dull and just no fun. But you should give this movie a chance!
Now this won't be the best movie that comes out this year, but it is highly entertaining. Unfortunately this movie doesn't come off very scary or terrifying, but it is extremely funny and will make you laugh! Yeah some people might consider some parts of this movie lame or stupid but you have to remember that this is a really low-budget flick. For example: The Coch Woods Monster is really just some dude wearing a cheap mask and gloves! Yeah that might be lame, but I actually found it kinda cool. It does show a lot of promise, and with a bigger budget and maybe a few better actors, then this flick really could have been something. It would have been nice to see some cool make-up effects and blood to go along with some of the kills. But I understand that they didn't have enough money for all that.
Character wise, there are a few people that you'll like and a few that you'll hate. One guy in particular that I hated was the character of Sam Adams. To put it frankly...what an asshole! Every other word that came out of his mouth was a swear word, he treated his father like shit. Plus he runs over an old man and then gets out, not to see if the man is ok, but to take a leak on him. All throughout the movie I was hoping that the monster would hurry up and take this freakin' dude out!! A character that I liked would be 'The Geib'. Eric Geibner is a local news reporter who is covering all the murders. On camera he's a caring individual who cares about the citizens of Ludlow. But off camera he could really care less. It was funny to hear him go off on a rant about all the old people in town. Now the actor who plays him, Matt Wallace, did an alright job and it was fun to watch him.
Evil Awakening has a killer soundtrack to it folks. Some of the music was done by bands like Bitchslicer and Hellblock 6. Bitchslicer did a great job on the music, especially with the songs 'Evil Awakening' and 'Ancient Evil'. You can go here and listen to some of the songs that are on the movie.
Well like I said, this isn't the greatest movie, but it is fun to watch. So pick this up and put it in and sit back with some beers and get ready to have a fun time.
Thanks go out to Jeremy for letting me see this movie. Sorry it took so long to get it up. To find out more about this movie, please visit the Xposse website at www.xposse.com.
